Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Assistant Property Manager to contribute to the daily operations of a multifamily property portfolio located in New York City. Reporting to the Senior Property Manager, this role involves close collaboration with ownership and operational partners to ensure optimal property performance, resident satisfaction, and adherence to all regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily operations of assigned multifamily properties, ensuring high standards of tenant service and operational efficiency.
- Manage tenant relations, including communication, issue resolution, and fostering positive resident experiences.
- Coordinate and supervise building staff, encompassing maintenance, leasing, and administrative teams.
- Monitor preventative maintenance schedules, capital improvement projects, and assess vendor performance.
- Track building compliance with regulations from agencies such as DOB, ECB, FDNY, and HPD, addressing any violations.
- Ensure the timely submission of all necessary compliance documentation and the execution of corrective actions.
- Conduct thorough move-in, move-out, and routine property inspections.
- Coordinate and oversee the completion of work orders and manage tenant access requests.
- Support lease renewal processes, assist with vacancy leasing efforts, and implement resident retention strategies.
- Prepare written correspondence for tenants and support broader resident communication initiatives.
- Manage vendor invoices, process payables, and administer service contracts.
- Assist in preparing and reviewing budgets, tracking expenses, and analyzing profit and loss statements to enhance property performance.
- Maintain accurate records and generate reports using property management systems.
Qualifications
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in multifamily property management within New York City; multisite experience is advantageous.
- Solid understanding of New York City real estate operations, compliance mandates, and local housing regulations.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively in a fast-paced setting.
- Strong organizational capabilities and meticulous attention to detail.
- Excellent communication, customer service, and follow-through skills.
- A self-starter with the capacity to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word) and Yardi property management software.
- A New York Real Estate Salesperson License is considered a plus.
- A Bachelor's degree is preferred.
