Job description

Role overview

You will take charge of the Army’s media production function, guiding the team to create engaging content for both public-facing and internal channels. The role covers the complete production journey, from generating ideas through to editing and final delivery, while also building the team’s capabilities and coordinating with stakeholders to produce polished media assets.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop fresh content concepts that reflect current trends and communicate messages effectively across the Army’s internal and external media platforms.
  • Steer the entire media production workflow, including concept development, pre-shoot coordination, on-location production, and post-production work on video and photo content.
  • Provide technical direction to the media team during shoots so that the necessary shots, angles, and visuals are captured.
  • Assess content produced by the team and give clear, constructive feedback on both creative direction and technical quality.
  • Track production schedules and work with different stakeholders to ensure media materials are completed and delivered on time.

Challenges in the role

  • Creating content that is both compelling and suitable for public communication while working within information security and operational security constraints.
  • Supporting urgent operational needs by being available as part of a standby team for media tasks at short notice.
  • Coaching and collaborating with a mixed-skill team, including Full-time National Servicemen (NSFs) who are still learning, while maintaining consistent output quality.

What we are looking for

  • A background in Film Production, Communications, Media Studies, Visual Communications, or a closely related discipline.
  • Prior experience in communications, filmmaking, content production, or a similar field is preferred.
  • Hands-on ability in photography and videography, including familiarity with equipment and field production practices.
  • Working knowledge of post-production and design tools, especially the Adobe Creative Suite such as Premiere Pro, Photoshop, After Effects, and Illustrator.
  • Understanding of content strategy and how to tailor messages so they connect with different audiences and platforms.
  • Strong creative judgement and analytical thinking, with the ability to turn ideas into clear communication.
  • Good people skills and stakeholder management abilities, with a collaborative approach across teams.
  • Comfort with fast-paced work, flexibility, and the ability to handle multiple tasks under pressure.
  • Sharing a relevant portfolio of work samples is encouraged.
