Role Overview

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct evaluations of high-profile projects across diverse New Zealand industries, focusing on risk management, process assessments, and control frameworks.
  • Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of internal audits and risk consulting engagements.
  • Utilize data analytics to identify trends, patterns, and risks within business processes.
  • Offer practical recommendations to boost the efficiency and effectiveness of processes, systems, and organizational structures.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to design appropriate risk and control solutions.
  • Mentor junior team members by overseeing their tasks and providing constructive, timely feedback.
  • Contribute to business development activities by identifying opportunities, leading client proposals, creating thought leadership, and enhancing team capabilities.
  • Build KPMG’s reputation through high-quality work, expertise, sound judgment, and innovative approaches.

Candidate Profile

  • Experience in risk management, assurance, or internal audit across multiple sectors, ideally including professional services, government, or the public sector (though not compulsory).
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to quickly interpret information and creatively resolve problems.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including report writing, project management, relationship-building, networking, and influencing competencies.
  • A positive, adaptable attitude with eagerness to embrace new challenges and grow professionally.
  • Comfortable managing ambiguity, independently addressing knowledge gaps through inquiry, collaboration, and research of technical and contractual materials.
