Job description
Role Overview
This position supports the stewarding operation in a hotel kitchen environment, helping keep back-of-house and dining support areas clean, orderly, and safe. The role contributes directly to a positive guest experience by ensuring hygiene standards, equipment care, and smooth daily operations across stewarding activities.
Key Duties
- Oversee stewards to maintain consistently high service and cleanliness standards.
- Support team members through coaching, onboarding, and ongoing development.
- Organize day-to-day pot-wash and dish-wash work.
- Keep back-of-house areas clean and compliant with established cleaning schedules.
- Follow health, hygiene, and safety rules, especially when dealing with hazardous substances.
- Escalate damaged, faulty, or misused equipment concerns to the appropriate managers, Executive Chef, and/or Chief Engineering.
- Confirm that proper PPE is available and that safety instructions are followed.
- Make sure machinery is used safely, correctly, efficiently, and in line with the hotel’s Health and Safety Manual.
- Help with the movement, placement, and storage of operational equipment.
- Assist with stock counts for equipment and other items when needed.
- Ensure all team members comply with hygiene and health & safety regulations.
- Perform any other reasonable duties assigned by hotel management.
