Role overview

TBI Health Group New Zealand is seeking a capable and well-organised Assistant Accountant to join its expanding Finance Team in a newly established permanent part-time position. The role is set at 20–25 hours each week, Monday through Friday, and will add extra finance support while taking the lead on treasury activities and lease platform administration.

Working with a collaborative team of five, you will contribute across a wide mix of accounting tasks and take ownership of important operational areas such as lease administration, cash flow support, property records, and fleet oversight. This position offers variety and the chance to be involved in many parts of a busy finance function.

The role may be based in Auckland or Wellington, with flexible working options available. Some duties can be completed from home, although the preferred arrangement is two days per week in the office to help maintain teamwork and connection.

Key duties

  • Oversee the Nomos One lease management system and ensure lease obligations are managed correctly
  • Assist with treasury operations and cash flow monitoring
  • Administer the organisation’s property holdings and vehicle fleet
  • Prepare reconciliations, journals, and accounts through to trial balance
  • Support the year-end financial audit process
  • Develop and maintain working relationships with Southern Cross Healthcare Procurement and other stakeholders
  • Provide backup and assistance to the wider Finance Team when needed
  • Help with finance projects, workflow improvements, and other ad hoc tasks

What makes this role attractive

This opportunity suits someone who enjoys varied work, takes ownership of their responsibilities, and wants a flexible position within a supportive healthcare organisation that is continuing to grow.

Benefits

  • Wellness allowance and a paid birthday leave day
  • Subsidised Southern Cross health insurance

  • Flexible working arrangements, including work-from-home options
  • Support for CAANZ membership and continued professional development
  • Company laptop and mobile phone for work use
  • Supportive, collaborative team environment
  • Convenient office locations
  • Training opportunities during the year, including guidance on appropriately applying Māori tikanga in the workplace
  • Opportunity to work for a New Zealand-owned healthcare business
