Art Authentication and Provenance Manager

About the Role

Arturo Palomba Gallery LLC is looking for a seasoned professional to take charge of the authentication and provenance research of artworks slated for acquisition, exhibition, and worldwide representation. This pivotal role safeguards the Gallery's reputation by confirming the authenticity, provenance, and legal standing of each piece managed.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform thorough provenance investigations and authenticate artworks.
• Validate certificates of authenticity, ownership documents, and exhibition histories.
• Examine signatures, labels, stamps, and related paperwork meticulously.
• Coordinate technical assessments with accredited laboratories and conservation experts.
• Engage with artists, estates, foundations, museums, and authentication committees effectively.
• Compose detailed reports on authentication and provenance findings.
• Provide support for acquisition, exhibition, and sales decision-making processes.
• Detect and evaluate possible legal, ethical, and authenticity-related concerns.
• Maintain secure and confidential records and documentation of artworks.
• Collaborate directly with the Founder & CEO on valuable acquisitions.

Candidate Requirements

• Possess a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Art History, Museum Studies, Conservation, Fine Arts, or related fields.
• Prior experience working in galleries, museums, auction houses, artist foundations, or authentication services is essential.
• Demonstrate deep expertise in provenance research and art authentication.
• Exhibit strong analytical thinking, organizational skills, and research capabilities.
• Uphold the highest standards of integrity and discretion.
• Fluency in English is mandatory; additional languages are a plus.
• Willingness to travel internationally as needed.
