Role overview
Skyline Living is seeking a full-time apartment building maintenance worker in Nanaimo, British Columbia. This position supports the day-to-day upkeep, safety, and presentation of residential apartment and condominium properties across one or more sites. The role is performed entirely on location and cannot be done remotely.
Language
English fluency is required for this role.
Education
A college, CEGEP, or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program lasting one to two years is required.
Experience
Candidates should bring three to less than five years of relevant experience.
Work setting
This position is based in apartment and condominium complexes, residential environments, and may involve working at multiple locations.
Key duties
- Keep shared areas clean by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, and waxing hallways, floors, and stairs.
- Use industrial vacuum equipment to clear dirt, debris, scraps, and other waste.
- Remove garbage from bins and other waste containers.
- Clean windows, indoor walls, and ceilings.
- Carry out minor maintenance and make basic adjustments to heating, cooling, ventilation, plumbing, and electrical systems, while arranging for qualified tradespeople when major repairs are needed.
- Promote available units by advertising vacancies.
- Coordinate with outside contractors for repair and maintenance work.
- Handle small repairs on appliances.
- Perform security and safety inspections.
- Show apartments and offices to prospective tenants.
- Lift and relocate furniture, equipment, and supplies as required.
- Complete routine maintenance such as painting and drywall patching.
- Water plants and maintain lawns or gardens.
- Sanitize bathrooms and fixtures.
- Carry out duties independently with little direct supervision.
- Clear snow and ice from walkways and parking areas.
Experience and equipment
Experience with paint and wallpaper products is part of the role, along with prior cleaning experience and the use of power tools.

Applicants must have their own transportation and a valid driver's licence.
Working conditions
The work can be high-pressure and repetitive, and it involves heavy loads, physical effort, bending, crouching, and kneeling.
