Role Overview

The ANZ Buyer position is responsible for developing seasonal buying plans for the ANZ Direct-to-Consumer (DTC) channel, ensuring alignment with financial targets. This role involves close collaboration with the merchandising team to translate assortment strategies into effective buys. You will partner with the Regional Merchant Team, the local TNF ANZ sales team, and the TA Planning team to link buying strategies with product strategies and market demand, ultimately supporting the achievement of financial objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute demand forecasts for individual styles and colors across various go-to-market milestones and forecast rounds, continuously improving accuracy through comprehensive forecast management.
  • Collaborate with the TA Planning team to align on seasonal DTC Open-to-Buy (OTB) plans, including sales projections and inventory assumptions.
  • Partner with Merchandising to ensure the buying plan accurately reflects the assortment strategy and supports growth and supply chain efficiency goals.
  • Independently generate buy quantities for approximately 800–1000 Stock Keeping Units (SKUs) per season across all product categories and territories, ensuring alignment with OTB budgets, sales targets, and inventory sell-through goals.
  • Manage early and main buys, and actively participate in consensus meetings for top-up and drop decisions.
  • Optimize DTC channel size curves developed by the TA Planning team and provide recommendations for necessary adjustments.
  • Consolidate DTC and wholesale orders, ensuring accurate system uploads.
  • Align launch plans (CRD) with Merchandising and manage the phasing of product delivery to match demand, seasonality, and maintain balanced inventory levels.
  • Support in-season sell-through management by analyzing performance, identifying trends, and providing actionable insights to optimize sales and mitigate risks.
  • Assist with daily sales tracking using Tableau and target upload processes.
  • Collaborate with TA Planning on markdown, promotion, and exit strategies to ensure profitability and maintain premium marketplace execution.
  • Work with TA Planning and the APAC inventory management team on inventory control, including tracking free-to-sell inventory, conducting rolling inventory reviews, and participating in clearance plans to meet year-end ANZ inventory targets.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • A strong understanding and intuition for the outdoor industry and the TNF brand.
  • Expertise in retail and product knowledge within the key ANZ markets.
  • Working knowledge of Profit & Loss (P&L) statements.
  • A deep understanding of consumer needs and the ability to identify emerging retail apparel trends.
  • Exceptional organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
  • Excellent presentation, communication, and influencing skills.
  • Proven ability to foster strong teamwork and collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Capacity to interact and communicate effectively with employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Adaptability to evolving business requirements and market trends.
  • Proficiency in coaching and developing team members for future growth.
