Job description

About Goldman Sachs Asset Management

Goldman Sachs Asset Management is a major global investment manager with more than $2 trillion in assets under supervision. As a core investing platform within Goldman Sachs, it delivers investment and advisory solutions to pension plans, sovereign wealth funds, insurance firms, endowments, foundations, financial advisers, and individual investors.

About the Team

Alternatives Capital Formation (ACF) sits within the Client Solutions Group (CSG) in Asset & Wealth Management (AWM). The team leads fundraising and capital strategy for alternative investment products across private equity, private credit, real estate, infrastructure, growth equity, sustainability, secondaries, GP stakes, and hedge funds / liquid alternatives. Team members work across product verticals and collaborate with investment teams, CSG, and wealth management to develop client solutions. This role is focused on the Private Equity vertical.

Role Overview

The Alternatives Capital Formation Analyst will help drive marketing, fundraising, investor communication, and client engagement efforts for private equity strategies. The role requires close partnership with internal stakeholders and external clients to support the full capital formation cycle.

Responsibilities

  • Assist product specialists in the Private Equity vertical across all stages of the fundraising and marketing process for private equity funds.
  • Work with teams across ACF, client advisers, sales, fund finance, fund management, legal, and compliance to shape product strategy, monitor progress, and maintain engagement with target investors.
  • Prepare and refresh investor-facing content such as marketing decks, update calls, videos, educational materials, and performance and data analyses, while using market insight to strengthen the messaging and distribution of relevant funds.
  • Interact with both prospective and existing clients on due diligence questions, portfolio updates, ongoing requests, and meetings.
  • Support completion of due diligence questionnaires, respond to investor queries, and organise data rooms while managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Partner with the investment team to deepen understanding of the portfolio, assess key metrics, and craft effective investor messaging around funds, investments, market conditions, and competitive positioning.
  • Clearly explain the investment approach and the role of relevant Goldman Sachs private equity strategies within a broader portfolio to internal and external audiences.
  • Answer questions from senior leadership and internal sales channels across private wealth, institutional, and third-party distribution groups.

Requirements

  • 0 to 1 year of experience in a similar position; experience in investment banking or investing is also relevant.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, along with solid analytical and interpersonal abilities.
  • Good judgement and the ability to solve problems effectively.
  • High attention to detail and a track record of producing accurate work.
  • Comfort working under pressure and handling several tasks at once.
  • Excellent organisation skills with the ability to deliver a high volume of quality output under tight deadlines, often across multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Collaborative mindset, self-drive, and willingness to take on greater responsibility over time.
  • Ability to contribute new ideas and improve processes to increase efficiency and support growth.
  • Strong numerical and analytical capability, with curiosity for exploring and understanding financial data.
  • Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint, plus fluency in using AI and LMM tools.
