Job description

About the role

As an Activities Assistant in a Barchester care home, you will plan and run engaging, enjoyable, and varied activities for residents. The aim is to create a positive, stimulating environment where people can take part in the hobbies and interests they prefer. In this role, you will help make a meaningful difference to residents’ day-to-day lives.

You will support the delivery of an activities and entertainment programme that includes a broad mix of hobbies, group activities, outings, and special events. Your work will also contribute to helping residents stay as independent as possible and remain connected with family, friends, and the wider local community.

About you

No previous experience is required for this position, so applicants from any background are welcome. The role suits someone who brings energy, imagination, and the confidence to motivate and encourage others. A genuine interest in supporting people is essential, along with enthusiasm and empathy for residents’ wellbeing.

Successful candidates will also be given opportunities to strengthen their abilities through training and development courses designed to build confidence across the role.

Rewards package

Alongside a competitive pay rate, the employer offers a strong benefits package that includes free training, wellbeing support resources, retail discounts, savings offers, a Refer a Friend bonus scheme, Employee of the Month recognition, Long Service Awards, and a workplace pension with employer contributions starting at 3%.

Additional benefits are also available as part of the wider package.

Additional information

This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who wants to use creativity and strong people skills in an organisation focused on high-quality care for residents.
