Job description

Role overview

This position sits within the Record to Report function and is focused on keeping day-to-day accounting activities running smoothly and on schedule. The role supports accurate reporting by improving processes, coordinating with stakeholders, and helping the team work efficiently across R2R activities.

What you will do

  • Handle the daily operations of the R2R general ledger accounting area in line with SLA targets.
  • Create journal entries in an Excel template and upload them into the Cadency Journal Module.
  • Collect required inputs from other departments for activities such as journal postings, accruals, reconciliations, and reporting.
  • Complete assigned tasks by the agreed deadlines without compromising accuracy.
  • Maintain 100% accuracy in the work performed.
  • Use SAP transaction codes for journal posting, report extraction, and account reconciliation, including FB03, FB02, FBL3n, FBL1n, and FBL5n.
  • Apply Excel functions such as VLOOKUP and HLOOKUP as part of routine work.
  • Carry out peer reviews within the team when needed.
  • Bring practical knowledge of at least one or two accounting functions such as fixed assets, payroll, cash, intercompany, revenue accounting, or OPEX.
  • Support teammates and step in when needed to help complete deliverables.
  • Take part in knowledge-transfer sessions and ensure training outputs are properly documented.
  • Keep SOPs current and aligned with the latest process steps.
  • Inform team leads early about issues or delays affecting tasks.
  • Communicate any emergency leave in advance and ensure backup coverage is arranged so deliverables are not disrupted.
  • Participate in team- and floor-level activities.
  • Contribute ideas, improvements, and best practices to the team.
  • Escalate issues and keep management informed when unexpected situations arise.
  • Stay open to learning new tasks within the team and share knowledge with peers.
  • Communicate effectively with internal teams, including AR and AP, by asking relevant questions and coordinating as needed.
  • Write clear, timely emails with the right level of detail for stakeholders.
  • Act responsibly in line with legal obligations, local laws, regulations, and requirements.
  • Maintain clear communication with both internal and external stakeholders.

Who you will work with

You will be part of the Record to Report team in Global Accounting within Shared Services at H&M Group. The team works to improve stock accounting processes and support high-quality reporting by collaborating closely with relevant stakeholders. The role is carried out in a culture shaped by shared values, the right mindset, and leadership that supports business success.

What we are looking for

  • A university degree or higher education in Business Administration or a similar field, or equivalent practical experience in accounting/finance such as B.Com, M.Com, MBA, or semi-qualified status.
  • Strong accounting capability, with 4+ years of experience in a similar role considered an advantage and solid knowledge of generally accepted accounting practices.
  • Good process understanding, including technical skills, communication, system integrations, and comfort with automation or machine learning-based processes.
  • Ability to train others and communicate effectively through internal and external channels and forums.
  • Good planning and optimization skills.
  • Strong written and spoken English communication.
  • Hands-on experience with accounting-related tasks.
  • Experience in building and improving both new and existing accounting processes.
  • SAP experience is beneficial.
  • Experience in a shared service center environment is beneficial.
  • Experience with RPA is beneficial.
