About the Role

UNICEF operates across more than 190 countries, safeguarding the rights and welfare of children globally. In Botswana, UNICEF collaborates with ABSA Botswana on the Skilling and Employability Training Programme, targeting youth unemployment by equipping young individuals with essential workplace skills while reinforcing adolescent development, HIV prevention, and Generation Unlimited initiatives.

The Youth Project Coordinator position, located in Gaborone, Botswana, will provide hands-on coordination and technical guidance to ensure the effective execution of the Skilling and Employability Training Programme's virtual training phase. This role will oversee the day-to-day operations, mentor and supervise 50 youth volunteers known as Ready To Work champions, and contribute broadly to UNICEF's adolescent and youth programs.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead coordination efforts to implement the Skilling and Employability Training Programme, ensuring delivery quality and target achievement.
  • Oversee, mentor, and support 50 Ready To Work Champions facilitating virtual employability training sessions.
  • Manage partnerships by coordinating activities and communication with ABSA Botswana and other stakeholders, including conducting meetings and reporting.
  • Monitor programme performance metrics, budget adherence, risk management, and overall implementation progress while advising on adaptive management approaches.
  • Supervise volunteer engagement concerning their performance, wellbeing, training effectiveness, and scheduling.
  • Guarantee high standards in virtual training delivery, monitor enrollment and course completion rates, and foster inclusive participation—especially among youth with disabilities and those not in education, employment, or training (NEET).
  • Assist in monitoring, evaluation, data management, reporting activities, and facilitate learning and documentation of programme insights.
  • Support adolescent HIV initiatives, Generation Unlimited activities, partnership maintenance, and additional youth development efforts.

Candidate Profile

  • At least three years of applicable professional experience in project coordination, youth programming, volunteer or community facilitation management, programme implementation, and partnership liaison.
  • Experience in monitoring, evaluation, reporting, and working with digital learning platforms and data systems.
  • A Bachelor’s degree specializing in Social Sciences, Development Studies, Public Health, Education, Business Administration, or related disciplines.
  • Proficiency in English is required, with Setswana language skills considered an advantage.
