Transport Officer

About the Role

Our client, a Ghanaian technology-driven ground transport logistics company, is looking for an organized and detail-focused Transport Officer to join their team based in Tema, Ghana. This role involves managing assigned trucks, third-party (3P) partners, and drivers to ensure seamless load operations while maintaining superior quality standards. The Transport Officer will act as the main 3P liaison, fostering collaborative and productive relationships. The position demands excellent leadership, organizational skills, and comprehensive knowledge of the transport sector. This role offers the chance to shape company load operations' structure and strategy, reinforcing the company's reputation for reliability and excellence in the market.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operational management of drivers during load assignments.
• Perform regular check-ins, accompany drivers on rides, and conduct on-site supervision to uphold safety, professionalism, and adherence to company SOPs.
• Coordinate and supervise all aspects of load management for assigned trucks.
• Monitor assigned trucks to ensure compliance with company procedures, safety standards, and load-specific requirements.
• Manage third-party vehicles and drivers with operational oversight equivalent to company-owned assets.
• Maintain consistent communication, monitor performance, and escalate issues as necessary.
• Collaborate with internal teams to align operations and coordination between company and 3P partners.
• Support recruitment and onboarding processes for new 3P transport partners and drivers.
• Identify and recommend dependable, professional 3P partners meeting company standards.
• Provide training, coaching, and guidance to assigned drivers for performance improvement.
• Track key performance indicators and conduct regular reviews giving feedback to enhance driver performance.
• Prepare frequent reports and dashboards summarizing operational activities, trends, and insights related to assigned trucks.
• Maintain accurate and current records for all assigned vehicles.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Logistics and Supply Chain from an accredited university.
• Demonstrable experience in transport operations, logistics management, or a related transport industry role.
• In-depth knowledge of Ghana’s transport sector, especially 3P partner dynamics, regulations, and route assessments.
• Strong leadership skills with effective management of 3P partner relationships and operations.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to engage and influence third-party partners successfully.
• Advanced organizational ability and attention to detail managing multiple vehicles concurrently.
• Proficiency in English, both spoken and written.
• Competent in Microsoft Office tools including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Familiarity with Transport Management Systems and tracking software.
• Willingness and ability to travel within Ghana as needed.
