Role summary
This position focuses on nurturing existing business relationships, bringing in new relationships, and helping deliver sales outcomes linked to those relationships.
Business context
The organisation was established in 1994 as a joint venture between Aditya Birla Group and Sunlife Financial Inc., a well-known financial services company based in Canada. It serves as the fund manager for Birla Sunlife Mutual Funds and, as of December 2015, stood as the fourth-largest fund management house in India with an average AUM base of more than INR 1 lakh 40 thousand crores. Among the 42 fund houses in the country, it held the first position in Fixed Income AUM and the fifth position in Equity AUM. By December 2015, its average AUM market share was approximately 10.2%, and its investor base had grown by 20% to around 2.42 million from 2.01 million in the prior year.
Key challenges
- Create strong recall for BSLAMC schemes in a distributor market with many competing product options.
- Stay continuously updated on distributor activity, market movements, and rapidly changing business conditions.
- Resolve investor service issues quickly and ensure a short turnaround time.
Key responsibilities
- Drive repeat sales from assigned relationships and contribute to regional business targets.
- Study market inputs to identify potential clients, make direct sales pitches, and work with channel partners to improve sales performance.
- Maintain regular contact and meetings with distributors to support engagement and empanelment efforts.
- Follow internal reporting and audit processes with complete compliance.
- Share weekly updates with Regional Heads and Channel Heads.
