About the Role
This full-time, permanent Relationship Manager position is based in Britomart, Auckland within the Corporate Banking team. In this role, you will be entrusted with managing a diverse portfolio of commercial clients spanning several significant industry sectors across New Zealand. Reporting to the Area Manager, your primary responsibility will be to nurture and expand your portfolio through delivering expert lending counsel and customised financial solutions that align with the strategic goals of your clients. Developing an in-depth knowledge of your clients’ enterprises, industries, and expansion plans will enable you to serve as a trusted advisor, consistently creating long-term value.
You will be central to deal execution — spotting new opportunities, structuring financing arrangements, and collaborating closely with product specialists, analysts, and support personnel to meet customer needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer a portfolio of corporate customers, ensuring exceptional, seamless service and ongoing development.
- Establish and maintain lasting relationships with clients and vital intermediaries such as brokers and accountants.
- Discover and pursue new business prospects that align with customer requirements and prevailing market conditions.
- Possess expert knowledge of industry trends and maintain strong insights within your supported sectors.
- Lead and contribute to the preparation of high-quality credit submissions while safeguarding portfolio health.
- Operate strictly within all risk, compliance, Anti-Money Laundering (AML), and Credit Contracts and Consumer Finance Act (CCCFA) regulations.
- Act as a representative of Westpac, enhancing the organisation’s brand awareness and reputation within your portfolio and local market network.

Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is an astute commercial Relationship Manager with a solid track record in business, commercial, or corporate banking. You possess comprehensive lending knowledge combined with an ability to build trust, influence stakeholders, and identify growth opportunities effectively.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Demonstrable experience in business or corporate lending.
- Strong skills in relationship management and engagement with stakeholders.
- Thorough understanding of credit assessments, risk factors, product knowledge, and pricing models.
- Deep familiarity with the New Zealand corporate marketplace and economic landscape.
- Excellent communication and networking abilities, capable of building credibility and influence.
- Well-developed commercial acumen with the skill to transform insights into actionable plans.
- A growth-oriented mindset with ambition to progress a career in corporate banking.
- Preferably over five years of relevant banking experience and a tertiary qualification in Business, Finance, or closely related fields.
