About the Role

The Infrastructure Deal Advisory team at KPMG supports clients in making strategic and financial decisions concerning infrastructure and significant capital investments. Applying financial analysis, commercial insight, and market understanding, the team aims to deliver valuable investments to boost New Zealand’s prosperity.

The Auckland-based Infrastructure Deal Advisory team is seeking highly capable candidates to join at the Manager level. The team fosters a collaborative and supportive environment, encouraging professionals to engage across various projects and advisory streams, acquiring diverse skills foundational to long-term career success. This team operates within the larger Deal Advisory division alongside Corporate Finance, M&A, and financial due diligence specialists. Candidates with expertise in economics, accounting, or finance who can contribute broadly as well as specifically to infrastructure projects are encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities

• Providing comprehensive guidance on strategic, economic, financial, and commercial factors affecting infrastructure and large capital investment projects.
• Engaging across multiple sectors, including transportation, water, energy utilities, urban development, aviation, and social infrastructure.
• Carrying out tasks such as preparing investment proposals, crafting funding and financing options, financial modeling, commercial structuring, negotiation, procurement, and transaction execution.
• Collaborating with clients in both public and private sectors, aiding business growth through opportunity identification, relationship building, and advocating for KPMG’s services.

Candidate Profile

• Experience in advisory or delivery roles within professional services firms or investment banking, or possibly in government or construction sectors (experience in the latter is not mandatory).
• A strong passion for infrastructure development and connected communities leading to excellent project delivery.
• Analytical and critical thinking skills paired with a natural curiosity to solve complex problems.
• Proven ability to work well within teams and contribute positively to a collaborative and enjoyable workplace culture.
• Professional certifications such as CA or CFA are ideal, alongside expertise in financial modeling.
• Proficiency with Excel and/or Power BI tools.
• Effective oral and written communication skills capable of simplifying complex strategic and financial analyses.
• Commercial awareness combined with high ethical standards.
• A proactive and self-motivated approach with a track record of meeting deadlines.
• Competency in managing project deliverables, timelines, budgets, coordinating multiple stakeholders' inputs, and mentoring team members.
• Experience delivering client-focused services.
