Overview
The Manager Compliance plays a critical role in enhancing and maintaining the overall compliance and governance framework within Qatar Airways Group (QRG). This position is based in Doha, Qatar, and reports within the Corporate & Commercial job family. The role entails advising on a variety of legal issues tied to compliance laws including sanctions, export controls, anti-bribery and corruption, due diligence, consumer rights, competition, governance, and data protection.
Primary Responsibilities
- Oversee compliance activities to ensure adherence to all relevant laws and regulatory requirements across the Qatar Airways Group.
- Identify potential legal risks and design effective solutions with corrective action plans for any identified shortfalls.
- Take leadership in devising and implementing training programs, raising awareness, and updating policies, procedures, and official guidelines relevant to compliance.
- Provide expert legal counseling to management and staff regarding applicable laws and regulatory frameworks.
- Perform compliance risk evaluations to spot any weaknesses and propose mitigation strategies where necessary.
Candidate Profile and Requirements
- A Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification is mandatory, along with a minimum of 8 years of focused experience in compliance, regulatory legal matters, or auditing.
- Previous exposure in multicultural settings handling legal, risk, and compliance functions, also experienced in monitoring compliance and regulations.
- At least 5 years of tenure in large enterprises, governmental regulatory agencies, or corporate in-house roles, managing compliance challenges, risk assessments, and handling third-party risks such as due diligence and export control.
- Thorough expertise in international compliance laws and sanctions, along with in-depth understanding of export control, due diligence, and governance.
- At least five years of hands-on experience specializing in a minimum of two core compliance areas coupled with eagerness to learn across other domains.
- Proven ability to handle intricate issues with diverse stakeholders effectively.
- Strong command of English communication, both written and spoken, with excellent organizational and problem-solving competencies.
- Solid managerial skills including delegation, workflow management, mentoring, coaching, and the ability to cultivate teamwork.
Preferred Additional Experience
- Background in the aviation sector is a significant advantage.
