Position Overview
Afrimat Group Services invites applications for the role of Group Manager: Learning and Development based in Tygervalley, Western Cape, South Africa. This leadership role requires a seasoned professional with extensive experience overseeing learning and development (L&D) initiatives to align workforce capabilities with the group’s business objectives.
Qualifications and Experience
- Possess a relevant tertiary qualification in Human Resources, Organisational Development, Education, or a related field.
- Have at least ten years of experience specifically in learning and development, including three to five years in a management capacity.
- Experience in mining, industrial, or large-scale corporate environments is advantageous.
- Demonstrated expertise in designing and implementing comprehensive, group-wide learning strategies, frameworks, and programs.
- Familiarity with Skills Development legislation, SETA processes, Workplace Skills Plan (WSP)/Annual Training Report (ATR) submissions, and BBBEE skills development compliance.
- Strong project management capabilities enabling oversight of multiple L&D initiatives across diverse business units.
- Exhibit ethical conduct, dedication, professionalism, and outstanding leadership qualities while fostering teamwork.
- Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Analytical mindset combined with creativity, result-orientation, and ability to translate business strategy into learning solutions.
- Proven ability to build and lead high-performing L&D teams within multi-site or group organizational structures.
- Capability to prioritize, plan, organize activities independently, and support business systems.
- Track record of supporting business systems environments effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a cohesive learning and development strategy aligned with Afrimat’s broader objectives.
- Lead the design, deployment, and assessment of training programs throughout all business divisions.
- Manage and guide a team of L&D professionals and collaborate with external training providers.
- Coordinate SETA interactions, fulfill WSP/ATR submissions, and ensure compliance with Skills Development requirements.
- Oversee learning initiatives to contribute positively towards BBBEE skills development scorecard targets.
- Partner with people and line managers to identify training needs through comprehensive analyses.
- Administer the L&D budget ensuring cost-efficient training delivery.
- Measure training outcomes and report learning metrics and return on investment to executive leadership.
- Promote a culture of learning accentuated by innovative digital and blended learning solutions.
- Facilitate leadership development and nurture future talent through pipeline programs.
- Engage and collaborate with external educational institutions, professional bodies, and learning partners.
- Perform additional duties as required by the organization.
