Job Overview

Carver Construction Ltd is seeking a seasoned Estimator with extensive experience in general contracting estimating, particularly within the civil sector. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in managing and developing accurate cost estimations to support successful bidding and project execution.

Primary Responsibilities

• Lead the preparation and management of cost estimates across various functional disciplines.
• Examine tender documents thoroughly to ascertain the full scope of work required.
• Analyze completed project costs against initial bids and update the estimate reference library accordingly for future projects.
• Formulate proposals and devise winning bid strategies to enhance project acquisition.
• Assess specifications and drawings to understand the detailed scope and necessary estimate components.
• Take part in pre-bid activities including meetings, strategy sessions, site visits, and presentations as needed.
• Oversee detailed quantity takeoffs to ensure complete and accurate cost calculations.

Candidate Qualifications

• At least five years of relevant experience in project estimating.
• Preferably experience in water and wastewater treatment or industrial construction sectors.
• Possession of an Engineering Degree, Engineering Technology Diploma, or equivalent practical experience in estimating.
• Comprehensive knowledge of various estimating techniques and methodologies.
• Strong understanding of project management functions encompassing contract administration, procurement, material management, economics, labor laws, and legal issues relating to contracts.
• Familiarity with trade scope definitions and insight into local market conditions.
• Knowledge of diverse contractual terms and conditions involved in construction projects.
