Job Overview

The Custodian position entails maintaining cleanliness and sanitation across designated areas, ensuring a safe and orderly environment. This role involves performing janitorial duties, operating cleaning machinery, and managing hazardous waste protocols.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out scheduled janitorial tasks in assigned zones.
• Handle hazardous waste by collecting, classifying, storing, packaging, labeling, recycling, shipping, and receiving materials safely.
• Utilize motorized cleaning equipment responsibly.
• Maintain the daily condition and cleanliness of designated workspaces.
• Report any incidents or hazardous conditions promptly to supervisors.
• Adhere strictly to safety policies, procedures, and regulations.
• Intervene to prevent risky behaviors in oneself and colleagues.
• Collaborate within teams to complete assignments efficiently.
• Consistently perform repetitive cleaning tasks with attention.
• Keep work areas tidy and orderly at all times.
• Follow all company guidelines, protocols, and instructions accurately.
• Take directives well and act upon supervisory feedback.
• Communicate professionally with supervisors, colleagues, managers, and clients.
• Fill in shifts as needed during staffing shortages.
• Assist shift leads in completing daily punch-list items.
• Use correct personal protective equipment during all duties.
• Maintain a professional appearance and conduct at work.
• Understand and prioritize customer service and satisfaction.
• Comprehend and utilize workplace reporting systems and environmental policies.

Qualifications

• No precise education level required; 3 to 6 months of related training or experience preferred or an equivalent mix of education and practical experience.
• Possession of a valid driver's license may be necessary.
• Completion of all safety and task training certifications is required.
• Forklift certification might be mandatory.
• Bilingual abilities are considered advantageous.
• Competence to read and understand instructions, manuals, and procedural documents.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Familiarity with cleaning methods, equipment care, compounds, and chemicals, with a willingness to share knowledge with the team.

Physical Requirements and Work Conditions

• Employees should be able to lift and move objects weighing up to 35 pounds.
• The role involves frequent sitting, talking, and listening.

Working Hours and Compensation

• Shifts include Sunday to Thursday from 10:00 PM to 6:30 AM, Monday to Friday from 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM, and Monday to Friday from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM.
• Hourly wage ranges between $14.00 and $15.00.
