Floor Technician

Job Overview

The Floor Technician is tasked with safely executing designated floor care operations according to established procedures and standards. This role includes performing environmental services when necessary and handling floor maintenance tasks such as waxing, stripping, and buffing, ensuring adherence to all regulatory and contractual guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

• Follow all safety protocols and intervene to stop unsafe behaviors in oneself and others
• Collaborate effectively with team members to complete daily assignments
• Perform routine, repetitive cleaning tasks
• Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the work area
• Adhere strictly to all company policies, procedures, and rules
• Receive and act upon supervision and directions appropriately
• Communicate professionally with supervisors, co-workers, management, and customers
• Provide support during staff shortages across custodial, recycling, or maintenance duties
• Assist shift leads in finishing punch-list items
• Utilize required personal protective equipment for all tasks
• Maintain professional conduct and appearance at all times
• Understand and prioritize customer service and satisfaction
• Familiarize and comply with reporting systems related to the work environment
• Operate motorized cleaning machines responsibly
• Keep assigned floor areas well-maintained daily
• Perform maintenance and cleaning of different floor types: tile, carpet, and brick
• Complete assignments within designated timelines
• Use proper chemicals and supplies as per procedures
• Maintain and sustain cleaning equipment properly and safely
• Always apply safety measures such as using wet floor signs
• Work independently without regular supervision
• Report any safety risks promptly to management

Qualifications

No formal education is required; however, 6 months to 1 year of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred. Candidates may need a valid driver’s license and must complete all safety and task training certifications. Forklift certification might be required as well.

Knowledge and Skills:

• Ability to read and interpret instructions, manuals, and procedural documents
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Understanding of cleaning methods, equipment usage, and maintenance
• Familiarity with cleaning chemicals and their safe handling

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

• Must be able to frequently sit, talk, or listen during duties
• Required to lift or move objects up to 35 pounds

Working Hours and Compensation

The shift runs from Sunday to Thursday, 9:30 PM to 6:00 AM. The compensation range is $15.75 to $16.75 per hour.
