Role Overview and Responsibilities

The Accounting Manager role is vital to Kodiak's expanding accounting department, focusing on optimizing month-end closures, refining reconciliation procedures, and enhancing audit preparedness. Candidates should demonstrate extensive operational accounting expertise, leadership capability, and the aptitude to excel in a dynamic and fast-evolving setting.

• Collaborate with the wider Finance team to accelerate closing cycles and establish scalable accounting processes.
• Lead and oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes ensuring precise, timely financial reporting under U.S. GAAP standards.
• Conduct detailed fluctuation analyses of accounts and investigate any variances.
• Assist in financial reporting consistent with U.S. GAAP principles.
• Manage and improve balance sheet reconciliations with tools like FloQast or equivalents.
• Guarantee reconciliation, documentation, and support of assigned accounts.
• Promote uniformity and standardization in reconciliation workflows.
• Handle Prepared-By-Client (PBC) requests to facilitate external audit processes.
• Organize and monitor audit deliverables involving various stakeholders.
• Engage with auditors and internal teams to address queries promptly and effectively.
• Lead, mentor, and grow the accounting team fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous enhancement.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA accreditation preferred.
• Minimum six years of pertinent accounting experience including public accounting (preferably Big 4) and corporate roles.
• Solid grasp of U.S. GAAP and expertise managing multiple general ledger components.
• Proven experience supporting audits and coordinating PBC inquiries.
• Familiarity with SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud strongly desired, including involvement in system design or implementation.
• Excellent organizational aptitude, attention to detail, and the capacity to meet deadlines in a scaling environment.
• Superior written and verbal communication skills, paired with cross-functional collaboration experience.
• Experience handling accounting for manufacturing operations, cost accounting, including labor/materials tracking, inventory capitalization, and BOM accounting.

Preferred Additional Skills

• Experience with accounting close platforms such as FloQast, Blackline, or similar.
• Knowledge of transportation, automotive, robotics, or hardware sectors.
