Wellness Associate (Caregiver)

Overview

Sonata Viera in Melbourne, FL, is actively recruiting Wellness Associates (Caregivers) to provide personalized care aligned with each resident's Individual Resident Service Plan. Core Responsibilities

• Support residents with daily living activities including hygiene, dressing, eating, toileting, and mobility.
• Monitor and report immediately any changes in residents' physical or mental health to the Wellness Director.
• Manage medical supplies inventory and assist in procurement.
• Coordinate shift coverage during unexpected absences.
• Help develop and maintain staff assignments under Wellness Director guidance.
• Assist in onboarding and orientation of new Wellness Associates.
• Respond promptly to emergencies, administer first aid, and facilitate medical follow-up.
• Ensure cleanliness and order within resident units.
• Respond to residents' calls and promptly address their needs.
• Provide assistance with residents' clothing and laundry as required.
• Support meal selection, serving, and feeding tasks.
• Participate in activity program facilitation as assigned.
• Maintain compliance with record-keeping policies and file management.
• Attend at least six hours of in-service education annually.
• Perform additional duties as required by management.

Compliance & Safety

• Adhere to all emergency procedures and safety protocols.
• Maintain clear communication with the Wellness Director and staff, especially concerning resident health updates.

Qualifications

• Current State Nurse’s Aide registration is preferred but not mandatory.
• Experience and genuine interest in senior care.
• Capability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting up to 60 pounds, bending, and pushing.
• Ability to foster positive relationships with residents, families, and staff.
• Good physical and emotional health, free from communicable diseases.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to bend, reach, stand for extended periods, and use assistive devices such as a Hoyer Lift.
• Capacity to push, pull, and lift weights of up to 60 pounds when necessary.

Additional Information

• Work schedule may include weekends, holidays, and shifts different from the original assignment.
• Extended work hours up to 16 hours per day may be required.
• Potential exposure to infectious materials including HIV, AIDS, Hepatitis B and C.
• Interaction with residents who may exhibit hostile or unstable behavior due to mental health issues.
• Employment is subject to background checks, criminal history, and drug screening, including random tests.
• Photographs and video recordings may be taken for promotional purposes or by family-installed devices within resident apartments.
