Role overview
Ventia is hiring a Vacuum Truck Operator / Stormwater Technician to join its team in Kaitaia, Northland. The position sits within stormwater operations and supports the upkeep of essential infrastructure that helps protect local communities and waterways.

Work schedule
This is a permanent full-time role with a 44-hour work week, typically Monday to Friday. Some weekend shifts and night work may also be required.
Key duties
- Safely operate a vacuum truck and related equipment
- Move waste to authorised disposal sites
- Service and maintain stormwater assets and devices
- Carry out water blasting and cleaning tasks
- Prepare safety and maintenance records and documentation
What you need
The ideal candidate holds an NZ Class 2 driver licence and a Dangerous Goods endorsement. Experience in stormwater, drainage, civil construction, or utility maintenance is valuable. You should bring a strong focus on health, safety, and environmental practices, along with a positive, team-oriented attitude and the ability to work alone when needed. The work is physically demanding and involves outdoor manual labour.
Nice to have
Confined Space and Gas Detection certifications would be an advantage.
