Role Overview
As a Shift Supervisor at Starbucks in Barrie, Ontario, you will support the store manager in running store operations during your shifts. As a leader within the team, you will assign roles and tasks to partners to ensure customers experience Starbucks' renowned service through timely product delivery, high-quality beverages and merchandise, and maintaining a clean, welcoming store atmosphere. You'll embody Starbucks’ core values while contributing to a workplace known for its great culture and passionate workforce.
Key Responsibilities
- Uphold integrity, knowledge, and ethics that reflect Starbucks’ culture and principles.
- Maintain composure during busy or exceptional periods to keep operations smooth and serve as a positive role model.
- Proactively observe the store environment and anticipate customer and operational needs.
- Communicate effectively with the store manager to adapt and create the inviting "Third Place" ambiance each shift.
- Support new partner onboarding through encouragement and constructive coaching.
- Provide performance feedback to the store manager regarding partners during shifts.
- Contribute to a supportive team atmosphere by identifying and communicating changes in team morale or performance.
- Deliver clear, timely, and respectful coaching to enhance operational performance and partner growth.
- Ensure legendary customer service by prioritizing customer satisfaction and engagement.
- Identify and respond to customer needs promptly and effectively.
- Foster positive relationships with team members by understanding and addressing their motivations and concerns.
- Manage all operational aspects of the store during your shift, including opening and closing responsibilities.
- Adhere strictly to Starbucks' safety, security, cash handling, and operational policies to protect partner welfare.
- Ensure cash management procedures are followed accurately by the shift team.
- Monitor barista performance during shifts to maintain service excellence.
- Maintain consistent attendance and punctuality.
- Prepare and serve beverages, whole bean, and food products meeting recipe and presentation standards consistently.
- Comply with health, safety, and sanitation regulations for all products.
- Recognize and celebrate individual and team achievements using corporate tools and creative methods collaboratively with the store manager.
- Utilize operational tools effectively to achieve high performance standards during shifts.
Experience and Skills
- Previous customer service experience in retail or restaurant settings is required.
- Capability to supervise and direct others efficiently.
- Quick learner with the ability to adapt.
- Strong verbal communication skills.
- Understanding of retail operations.
- Excellent interpersonal abilities.
- Teamwork-oriented mindset.
