About the Project
Save the Children is an international non-profit focused on children’s rights, survival, protection, and development. Since 1983, it has operated in Zambia through programs in health, nutrition, child protection, education, and humanitarian aid. In coordination with Vayu Global Health, the Ministry of Health, and supported by LDS Charities funding, the Better Care for Small and Sick Newborns in Zambia project targets lowering neonatal mortality by improving access to respiratory care. This includes implementing bubble Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (bCPAP) technology and strengthening referral and treatment systems in ten district public health facilities across Lusaka, Central, and Southern Provinces.
Role Overview
The Project Driver will facilitate transportation for staff and visitors and ensure the maintenance and efficient operation of office and field vehicles supporting the project’s activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Transport office personnel and visitors as needed.
- Maintain cleanliness and upkeep of all office vehicles at all times.
- Manage and reconcile fuel accounts related to office vehicles.
- Prepare monthly reports analyzing vehicle usage and performance.
- Conduct routine inspection and maintenance checks on all vehicles.
- Ensure timely renewal of statutory vehicle obligations including road tax, insurance, and fitness certificates.
- Diligently update vehicle logbooks and maintain data accuracy in tracking systems such as Pro Fleet.
- Support sustainability initiatives by exploring local solutions to minimize carbon emissions and uphold child safeguarding standards.
- Perform any additional reasonable duties appropriate to the role and skill level.
