About the Role and Organisation
Join a vital organisation dedicated to connecting communities with a strong emphasis on safety culture and long-term project stability. This company offers clear career progression pathways and is currently seeking a Payroll Officer to manage fortnightly payroll operations.
The position is based in Melbourne CBD within a highly flexible working environment offering three days in the office and two days remote.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer the fortnightly payroll process for approximately 5,000 employees.
- Handle employee terminations, redundancy processing, and company entity changes efficiently.
- Manage escalated payroll inquiries promptly and effectively.
- Maintain and update the payroll system accurately.
- Keep precise payroll records including leave, sick leave, and overtime tracking.
- Generate reports to fulfill both internal requirements and statutory compliance.
- Calculate payroll variations, salary increases, and back pay calculations.
- Prepare and oversee payments related to superannuation, workers’ compensation, and other payroll deductions.
- Develop and sustain administrative procedures to enhance payroll service delivery.
- Identify and share improvements in payroll processes, policies, and practices with the team.
Candidate Profile
- Demonstrated experience in a payroll officer role with relevant payroll processing expertise.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient with SAP SuccessFactors (Employee Central and Employee Central Payroll) is highly desirable.
- Experience initiating process improvements.
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills to effectively prioritize workload.
- Ability to handle multiple competing demands and work under pressure successfully.
- Confidence in interacting with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Proactive in taking initiative and accountable for assigned duties.
