Job description

Job Overview

East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a qualified and experienced Maintenance Assistant to join its Estates Department. Based primarily at Ipswich Hospital, the role involves supporting the maintenance of general acute hospital facilities within a dynamic in-house team. Occasional travel to other ESNEFT sites may be required. The ideal candidate will be highly motivated, reliable, adaptable, and possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, capable of delivering quality work independently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Adhere to Health Technical Memoranda (HTMs), fire codes, health and safety regulations, and the Trust’s policies to maintain safe working environments.
  • Operate safely within hazardous zones to prevent injury and equipment damage.
  • Participate actively in executing engineering planned maintenance programs.
  • Engage fully with the Trust’s work management system, ensuring all job tickets, risk assessments, timesheets, and related paperwork are accurately completed.
  • Be prepared to work overtime for emergency repairs as required by management.
  • Provide emergency on-site cover for all building services outside normal working hours to ensure prompt repairs.
  • Maintain and carry communication devices such as pagers or two-way radios to respond swiftly to emergencies during both regular hours and emergency cover shifts.
