Lifeguard

Job Overview

This role entails safeguarding swimmers by applying appropriate rescue methods when needed and monitoring the swimming environment for hazardous conditions or unsafe behavior. Lifeguards enforce facility rules, identify guests who may be unsafe in activities, and notify supervisors accordingly. Assistance is given to injured individuals until emergency services arrive, and the overall atmosphere is kept enjoyable and secure.

Daily Duties

• Observe swimmers to detect distress and apply rescue techniques as needed.
• Maintain vigil over the swimming area for any dangerous situations or suspicious activity.
• Enforce safety regulations to ensure guest compliance.
• Inform supervisory staff about guests unable to safely participate in activities.
• Provide first aid and support to injured guests until professionals arrive.
• Maintain the pool environment by collecting, folding, and stacking towels per company standards and ensuring cleanliness of pool decks through washing and mopping.

Safety and Reporting

• Report accidents, injuries, and hazardous conditions promptly to management.
• Complete required safety training and obtain necessary certifications.
• Follow internal company policies while safeguarding confidential information and company assets.

Customer Service

• Greet all guests warmly and in line with company protocols.
• Maintain professional appearance and uniform standards.
• Respond proactively to guests' service needs, assist guests with disabilities, and express genuine appreciation towards guests.
• Communicate clearly and professionally with colleagues and guests alike.
• Support coworkers and foster a respectful work environment.
• Adhere to company quality assurance guidelines.

Physical and Operational Requirements

• Inspect tools, equipment, and machinery visually to detect defects.
• Maintain ability to move swiftly in emergency scenarios (running, walking, jogging).
• Stand, walk, or sit for extended durations during shifts.
• Lift and carry objects up to 50 pounds independently, and heavier items with assistance.
• Operate with fine motor skills requiring hand-eye coordination.
• Navigate uneven, slippery, or inclined surfaces including ladders, stairs, and ramps.
• Perform overhead reaching, bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping movements.
• Carry out other reasonable tasks as assigned by management.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
• No prior work experience required.
• No supervisory experience needed.
• Mandatory certifications include CPR and First Aid.
• Fitness Equipment knowledge is needed.
• Compliance with any local or state certifications or trainings required.
