About the Role
Join Vodafone in Dar es Salaam to contribute to our global mission of connecting people and creating a sustainable, inclusive world. As an IP Planner and Operations Specialist, you will be instrumental in maintaining and supporting the IP/MPLS network operations, ensuring operational excellence and efficiency across processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and support the operational activities of the IP/MPLS network to meet end-to-end network KPI targets through preventive, reactive, and corrective maintenance, regular updates per vendor advice, and emphasis on network security.
- Participate in the development and future planning of the IP network environment, advising on optimal and modernized network solutions aligning with company strategies; maintain detailed, current schematics and configurations with the latest recommended software.
- Ensure critical network services and links are continuously monitored with alerts sent as per agreed thresholds to enable smooth upgrade planning and value maximization.
- Lead network operation processes by documenting, enforcing, and adhering to policies and procedures covering alarm and trouble handling, maintenance, change control, business continuity, incident management, escalation, reporting, root cause analysis, and recommendations.
- Provide necessary support to contractors performing IP-related tasks.
Candidate Profile & Core Competencies
- Strong business awareness and analytical skills for problem-solving and swift resolution.
- Effective oral and written communication abilities.
- Proficient in IP network design and troubleshooting.
- Excellent teamwork and stakeholder engagement skills.
Qualifications & Experience
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience in telecommunications operations.
- University degree in Telecommunications, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering/Science, or equivalent.
- Experience collaborating with multiple vendors such as CISCO, Juniper, Huawei.
- In-depth understanding of mobile telecommunications network architectures and technologies.
- Practical experience in IP services operation and network security.
- Relevant certifications in IP fields including CCNA/CCNP, JNCA, CCNSP, or CCNSE.
- Willingness and ability to work beyond normal business hours when required.
- Readiness to travel extensively, including on short notice.
