Position Overview
Join a leading retail company in Ireland as an Indirect Procurement Buyer based in Cork. This role is ideal for procurement specialists who possess strong negotiation skills and commercial insight, particularly in managing indirect expenditures. You'll be instrumental in spearheading cost efficiency efforts and fostering supplier partnerships while enhancing procurement processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Formulate and apply procurement strategies for indirect spend segments.
- Oversee entire sourcing operations from market research to supplier selection, negotiation, and contract finalization.
- Negotiate effectively with suppliers to secure advantageous contracts maintaining quality and service levels.
- Establish and nurture robust connections with both internal teams and external vendors.
- Identify savings opportunities by analyzing spending and consolidating suppliers.
- Lead comprehensive tendering processes for allocated procurement categories.
- Ensure strict adherence to company procurement policies and authorization procedures.
- Review purchase orders and requisitions to uphold procurement standards.
- Collaborate with legal and internal departments to support contract oversight.
- Track supplier performance, contract compliance, and seek avenues for ongoing improvements.
- Generate reports, analyze spend data, and assist in budgeting and forecasting.
Candidate Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, or buyer roles.
- Hands-on experience managing indirect categories like Packaging, Marketing, HR, or professional services is highly preferred.
- Proven ability to negotiate significant supplier contracts and realize commercial savings.
- Excellent commercial judgment coupled with strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Effective at influencing stakeholders across various organizational levels.
- Proficient in Excel and experienced with procurement or ERP systems; familiarity with Oracle iProc is advantageous.
- Relevant qualifications such as CIPS or degrees in business, finance, or procurement.
- Highly organised with strong communication, negotiation, and project management competencies.
