Overview
This leadership role serves as the Chief Compliance Officer within a fast-growing healthcare technology company based in the United States. The position entails developing and leading a comprehensive enterprise-wide compliance program that ensures adherence to regulatory standards across clinical, pharmacy, privacy, security, and commercial domains. Working in partnership with executive and cross-functional teams, the officer drives compliance integration into business growth, product development, and operations, promoting ethical, scalable, and risk-aware practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the enterprise compliance function by setting vision, structure, budget, metrics, and strategic direction.
- Create and uphold policies, procedures, and internal controls consistent with healthcare, privacy, pharmacy, and regulatory mandates.
- Implement continuous monitoring, internal auditing, compliance reporting, issue resolution, and corrective actions to enhance risk management.
- Collaborate with product, engineering, legal, security, clinical, and commercial teams to incorporate compliance into product creation, market growth, vendor onboarding, and operational processes.
- Manage incident response together with legal and security teams, including investigations, regulatory communications, breach handling, and post-incident reviews.
- Develop third-party compliance oversight encompassing due diligence, contract standards, and monitoring vendors, providers, pharmacies, and partners.
- Foster a culture of ethics and compliance through targeted training, managing reporting systems, and encouraging transparent, retaliation-free reporting.
- Stay abreast of regulatory changes, interact with oversight bodies, and advise leadership and the Board with strategic compliance updates and guidance.
Qualifications and Experience
- Between 10 to 15+ years of leadership experience in compliance within healthcare, telehealth, pharmacy, digital health, or related regulated sectors.
- Proven capability in designing and expanding enterprise compliance programs across multiple states.
- Deep understanding of healthcare regulations including HIPAA/HITECH, privacy laws, telehealth, pharmacy, and relevant compliance frameworks.
- Experienced in assembling, mentoring, and guiding effective compliance teams.
- Strong interpersonal skills to influence executives and collaborate across legal, clinical, product, security, and operational teams.
- Exceptional strategic, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
- Polished executive communication skills, including presenting to senior leadership and boards.
- A balanced approach to support business growth while managing risks through data-driven decision making.
- High integrity, sound judgment, operational discipline, and a collaborative leadership style.
- Adaptability to fast-moving environments with a talent for establishing scalable processes from scratch.
