Overview

Join Yorkshire Water as a Protective Security Operations Centre (PSOC) Technician and contribute to safeguarding people, assets, and operations in a vital regional water company serving over 5.4 million individuals. This permanent full-time role based initially in Bradford, with future relocation to Leeds Valley Park in summer 2026, offers an opportunity to grow within a dynamic technology team focused on delivering essential water and wastewater services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily functions of the PSOC, ensuring smooth and efficient operations.
  • Promptly respond to Intruder Detection System (IDS) alarms and Video Surveillance System (VSS) alerts, maintaining service excellence.
  • Support critical security activities including monitoring, incident handling, escalation, and investigative procedures.
  • Manage system administration and provide first-line support for PAC, Abloy Cliq, security contracts, guarding requests, and related databases.
  • Keep thorough records by maintaining PSOC reports, logs, spreadsheets, and tracking systems.
  • Assist in training and development of PSOC operators, Protective Security Team members, and security guards.
  • Coordinate with internal departments, contractors, and external agencies to facilitate security operations.
  • Conduct routine system evaluations, identify faults, and contribute to ongoing improvement efforts.
  • Provide shift coverage and administrative assistance as needed.
  • Ensure adherence to company policies, regulatory requirements, and health and safety standards, promoting ethical conduct and high performance.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Strong interpersonal and communication abilities combined with excellent customer service skills.
  • Experience working in control room environments, preferably with video surveillance system monitoring.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite for documentation and reporting purposes.
  • Professional telephone etiquette with exceptional stakeholder relationship management capabilities.
  • Effective organizational and time management skills to juggle multiple priorities competently.
  • Detail-oriented, reliable, and proactive work ethic.
  • Familiarity with working under established procedures, compliance standards, and policy-driven environments.
  • Teamwork skills inclusive of collaboration with colleagues and external stakeholders.
  • Adaptability with willingness to learn and implement new technologies and operational systems.
  • Flexibility in working hours including day, night, weekend shifts, and short-notice cover requirements.

  • Competitive salary ranging between £28,163 and £34,770 based on experience, plus a 20% shift allowance.
