Position Overview

The Development Services Team at the City is inviting applications for two Planner roles—one permanent and one contract position lasting up to two years. Both positions involve full-time commitments, equating to 76 hours per fortnight with an option for a nine-day fortnight work schedule.

In these roles, planners will assess a variety of development proposals, including applications for development, subdivision, scheme amendments, Structure Plans, and Local Development Plans. Successful candidates will collaborate closely with internal teams, customers, external agencies, and members of the community throughout the planning process.

Key Qualifications and Experience

• Comprehensive understanding of land use planning, development regulations, and applicable legislation, varying between sound knowledge at Level 5 to advanced expertise at Level 6
• At Level 6, strong appreciation of design’s role in planning is required
• Well-honed organizational and client service skills
• Proven ability to build productive relationships with both internal and external stakeholders
• For Level 6, demonstrated report writing capabilities
• Previous experience in comparable planning roles is advantageous

Essential Requirements

• Valid driver's license
• Current National Police Clearance not older than three months; although not mandatory at application, it will be a condition prior to appointment
• A bachelor's degree in Urban and Regional Planning or a related field
