About the Project

Join the transformative energy landscape of Australia with the HumeLink project, a major 500kV electricity transmission initiative aiming to enhance the eastern states' energy capacity. The project entails approximately 365 km of new transmission lines, including a western section valued at $1.4 billion, connecting Wagga Wagga to Gugaa and Maragle in NSW.

Role Overview

We are looking for a seasoned Industrial Relations Advisor to become part of the HumeLink West team based on-site in Wagga Wagga, NSW. This position requires either daily or weekly commute arrangements (DIDO/FIFO) or relocation, with additional allowance provisions for such arrangements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and execute industrial relations strategies, policies, and procedures aligned with project goals.
  • Identify potential industrial relations issues and brief project management and People & Culture leadership on possible operational or commercial implications.
  • Represent the company in interactions with union officials on site, including assessing Right of Entry requests.
  • Offer coaching and mentoring support regarding industrial relations to managers, superintendents, and supervisors.
  • Assist in managing disputes by coordinating with legal and People & Culture teams to reach resolutions.
  • Document and escalate significant disputes, providing valuable perspectives on the issues.
  • Compile and report on industrial relations data and analytics.
  • Engage with frontline management to facilitate daily communications and resolve issues for mutually beneficial outcomes.

Candidate Profile

  • Must possess a valid Construction Industry Induction Card (White Card or equivalent) and pass a medical evaluation, including drug and alcohol screening.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and conflict management skills to influence and collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong verbal and written communication proficiencies, capable of building productive relationships at all organizational levels.
  • Proven experience delivering strategic and pragmatic advice on industrial relations, employment laws, and instruments.
  • Successful track record in managing union relationships, disputes, and enterprise bargaining processes.
  • Knowledge and experience with Right of Entry procedures.
  • Ability to independently manage complex, multifaceted tasks with discretion and organized prioritization under fast-paced conditions.
  • Adaptive to organizational change with a demonstrated quick learning ability.
  • Minimum 3 to 5 years of relevant industrial relations experience, with a preference for multi-site People & Culture exposure within industrial or resources sectors.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, or a related field.
