Role Overview
We are looking for a seasoned editor/journalist with proven experience delivering breaking news and insightful analysis across various energy and commodity sectors, including OPEC, IEA, supply and demand fundamentals, and leading global energy trading firms. The initial market focus will be on areas west of Suez.
Key Responsibilities
- Create original news articles and insightful reports centered on energy trading, global energy policies, and the interplay between geopolitics and commodities.
- Confidently analyze diverse datasets and reports related to energy and commodity markets to break news stories.
- Produce engaging short video reels explaining significant thematic energy topics.
- Collaborate effectively with editors, journalists, and price reporters to integrate Dow Jones Energy price assessments and benchmarks into comprehensive news reports, emphasizing teamwork within the newsroom.
Qualifications and Skills
- At least five years of professional journalism experience in a newsroom environment.
- A robust portfolio demonstrating exclusive and breaking news coverage in energy sectors, including interviews with key figures.
- Proficient writing and editing capabilities.
- Strong aptitude for data analysis and uncovering news stories through data exploration.
- Expertise in source development and relationship building.
- Deep knowledge of physical energy markets, commodities, and energy trading dynamics.
- Competency in multi-media storytelling, including video content creation.
- Experience with NewsPress content management systems.
- Data journalism skills enabling discovery and interpretation of new datasets and market trends.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and detail-oriented abilities, able to collaborate with news leadership, data visualization teams, and price reporters.
