Role Objectives
As a Cloud Middleware Support Engineer, you will be the primary point of contact for supporting and operating OCBC's cloud native infrastructure services, including OpenShift, Kafka, and Redis. Your work will enable business and technology teams to leverage the bank’s growing cloud capabilities to efficiently manage their application workloads.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain day-to-day operations of OpenShift/Kubernetes, Redis, and Kafka from an infrastructure perspective.
- Deliver technical support across the entire OCBC Cloud Middleware service stack such as messaging applications, incident management, and service observability and recovery.
- Utilize problem-solving and troubleshooting skills to diagnose root causes and restore services efficiently.
- Conduct capacity planning and optimize resource allocation to meet demand.
- Implement security best practices, ensuring all middleware services comply with security policies.
- Provide technical advice and support to development and operations teams.
- Monitor and resolve infrastructure and application issues related to OpenShift/Kafka/Redis platforms.
- Set up and maintain monitoring and alerting systems for middleware clusters.
- Participate in 24/7 operational support including permanent night and day shifts covering weekends and holidays.
Qualifications and Skills
- Minimum diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field.
- At least three years of practical experience supporting OpenShift, Kafka, or Redis technologies.
- Understanding of client-server and multi-tier web application architectures and distributed systems.
- System administration proficiency with skills in troubleshooting operating systems, application logs, networking, and storage issues.
- Effective team player with ability to collaborate and resolve issues to completion.
- Familiarity with Bash scripting, Python, Ansible, and GitOps methodologies.
- Willingness to learn additional technologies and adapt to evolving environments.
Preferred Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, IT, or equivalent preferred.
- Certifications in OpenShift/Kubernetes, Kafka, or Redis a plus.
- Five years or more managing container platforms, cloud services like VMware, and application services.
- Strong expertise in technology infrastructure including virtual servers, networking protocols, scripting, and observability tools (ELK stack, Grafana).
- Hands-on experience with observability tools such as ELK or Grafana.
