Software Engineer, Digital Products & Platforms (STB)

About the Role

GovTech Singapore spearheads digital transformation throughout the nation, developing data science, AI, and secure application solutions for the public sector. As part of GovTech's continued mission, the Software Engineer for Digital Products & Platforms (STB) will design, develop, and maintain digital tools aimed at improving efficiency and productivity throughout the organisation. Your work will focus on building robust internal platforms, workflow automations, integrations, and user-centric features that enhance daily operations for staff.

Main Responsibilities

• Design, implement, test, and support software functions for internal digital applications.
• Create and maintain both frontend and backend components, develop APIs, build workflow features, and automate processes with guidance from senior team members.
• Convert user stories and technical specifications into reliable, secure, and efficient software solutions.
• Engage in the complete product delivery lifecycle, including planning, development, testing, deployment, and ongoing enhancement post-launch.
• Contribute to integration projects involving internal systems, enterprise software, SaaS products, and external data sources.
• Develop and maintain APIs, connectors, automation workflows, and reusable modules to streamline operations and minimize repetitive work.
• Support the exploration and deployment of AI-powered functionalities such as search, summarization, intelligent recommendations, and productivity tools, ensuring these features meet standards for privacy, usability, and security.
• Participate in team meetings, code reviews, documentation, continuous integration/deployment, and technical troubleshooting, collaborating closely with engineers, product managers, and stakeholders.
• Help produce and maintain thorough technical documentation and contribute to knowledge-sharing for sustainable software maintenance.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent demonstrated experience.
• 1–4 years of experience in software engineering, alternatively, significant relevant internship or project work for those early in their career.
• Experience building web applications, backend systems, APIs, or process automation scripts.
• Fluency in one or more programming languages such as Java, Python, Go, or TypeScript.
• Understanding of modern development tools including frontend frameworks, backend development, databases, version control, and familiarity with CI/CD pipelines.
• Exposure to cloud computing platforms, containerization technologies, DevOps methodology, or automated testing frameworks preferred.
• Interest or hands-on experience with AI-enhanced solutions, low-code/no-code tools, workflow automation, or enterprise system integration is an advantage.
• Awareness of application security, data protection, and best practices in software reliability and operations.
