Role Overview
This permanent, full-time position is based primarily at Banksia Hill Detention Centre, with potential placement at other Youth Detention Centres within the department. The Recreation Activities Officer is responsible for designing, facilitating, and managing recreation programs aimed at encouraging maximum participation among young individuals. These initiatives should promote varied interests tailored to multiple youth groups and encourage self-management, responsibility, and motivation in line with departmental recreation policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement diverse recreational activities and programs for young people.
- Ensure programs provide opportunities for youth input and promote engagement and self-motivation.
- Utilize centre facilities effectively to maximize program reach and participation.
Candidate Requirements
- Demonstrated ability to achieve targets, foster productive relationships, and communicate effectively with various stakeholders both verbally and in writing.
- Proven experience mentoring, guiding, and supporting youth from diverse backgrounds.
- Skills in organizing and coordinating recreational events and programs that engage participants.
- Must hold or be eligible to obtain a current Working with Children Check as per National Child Safety Principles.
- Eligibility to work in permanent positions within the Western Australian Public Sector (Australian citizen or permanent resident).
