Overview
The Project Engineer plays a crucial role in managing construction and interior fit-out projects. This position entails planning, overseeing, and implementing site activities while coordinating with multiple stakeholders like consultants, contractors, vendors, and clients. The role requires ensuring projects are executed on schedule, with quality, cost control, and adherence to safety norms.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and implement construction and interior fit-out works per approved designs and specifications.
- Coordinate daily site operations to guarantee smooth progress and timely milestone achievement.
- Manage project schedules and resource utilization to optimize labor productivity.
- Liaise with architects, structural and MEP consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, and clients to address technical or workflow issues promptly.
- Review design drawings, shop details, and BOQs prior to project execution.
- Ensure compliance with approved plans, IS codes, and quality standards; conduct site inspections and create snag lists.
- Anticipate material needs, collaborate with procurement teams, and monitor material usage and deliveries.
- Control project costs by verifying measurements, certifications, and assisting in billing processes.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation including daily progress reports, site records, change orders, and correspondence.
- Promote and enforce health, safety, and environmental policies on-site, conducting safety briefings and monitoring use of PPE.
- Engage with clients and consultants through meetings, update project status regularly, and ensure prompt resolution of client remarks.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
- 3 to 8 years of relevant experience in construction and interior fit-out projects, preferably in commercial interiors, hospitality, retail, residential, or institutional sectors.
Technical Proficiencies
- Proficient in AutoCAD for drawing interpretations.
- Experienced with project management tools like MS Project or Primavera P6.
- Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Adept at reading architectural, structural, and MEP drawings.
- Competent in BOQ preparation, quantity verification, billing, and measurement certification.
- Familiar with construction standards and Indian IS codes.
