Job overview
The Partnership Analyst will support UNV field operations in Juba by combining partner engagement, market and demand analysis, and day-to-day coordination. The role is focused on strengthening volunteer mobilization, improving UNV’s visibility as a partner solution, and helping align country-level work with regional and global priorities.
About the unit
UNV Field Units are responsible for bringing UN Volunteer placements to UN agencies, funds, programmes, and other partners working on peace, development, and humanitarian priorities. They serve as the local face of UNV, helping connect the organization with governments, UN bodies, civil society, and private-sector stakeholders.
Tiered application eligibility
This vacancy follows UNDP/UNCDF/UNV’s tiered hiring approach. Applicants must check the tier stated in the vacancy title, if any, and confirm they are eligible under that tier. This opening is announced for Tier 0, Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 candidates.
- Tier 0: UNDP/UNCDF/UNV IP staff with permanent or fixed-term contracts whose posts will be abolished, or whose contracts will end or not be renewed during 2026.
- Tier 1: Other UNDP/UNCDF/UNV staff on permanent or fixed-term contracts.
- Tier 2: UNDP/UNCDF/UNV staff on temporary appointments, regular PSA personnel, and Expert or Specialist UN Volunteers.
- Tier 3 or no tier shown: All other contract types from UNDP/UNCDF/UNV and other agencies, plus external candidates.
Key responsibilities
- Build and maintain partnerships at country level with UN agencies, government bodies, civil society, and other stakeholders to advance UNV’s mandate and identify collaboration opportunities.
- Take part in UN planning exercises such as the CCA, UNSDCF, humanitarian response plans, and thematic task forces to help embed volunteer solutions in implementation.
- Review the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework, country programme documents, and sector strategies to find entry points for UNV engagement.
- Assess partner demand and help shape country volunteer mobilization strategies aligned with UNV’s strategic framework.
- Identify opportunities to place volunteers onsite and online across development, humanitarian, and peace portfolios based on partner priorities.
- Support outreach, awareness-building, and volunteerism promotion activities at field level.
- Prepare briefing materials, presentations, and analytical notes that clearly explain UNV’s value proposition and volunteer modalities.
- Support national talent attraction and pipeline planning together with the Regional Talent Acquisition Analyst.
- Develop and maintain country-level business intelligence on partner mandates, programme pipelines, and emerging priorities.
- Track mobilization trends and performance indicators using CRM, BI reports, and UVP tools to support forecasting and planning.
- Translate regional mobilization priorities into country-specific recommendations using analysis and local context.
- Contribute to the design of thematic volunteer solutions, pilot ideas, and joint approaches that respond to national and UN priorities.
- Work with the Field Security Officer and host entities to ensure volunteers understand and comply with security requirements and risk-mitigation measures.
- Help ensure medical evacuation support is delivered quickly and in line with procedures, coordinating with providers, host entities, and UNV offices.
- Monitor volunteer well-being and performance through regular contact, field visits, and engagement with supervisors and counterparts.
- Provide timely support across the full volunteer journey in coordination with the relevant teams.
- Plan and manage the Field Unit annual workplan, performance indicators, operational support funds, and budget reporting.
- Support the effective functioning of the UNV country presence and foster a collaborative, professional, and learning-oriented work environment.
- Supervise assigned UNV personnel, including performance review and capacity development.
Requirements
- A master’s degree in partnership management, social sciences, international development, project management, public administration, business administration, or a related field is preferred and required for the 2-year experience track.
- Alternatively, a bachelor’s degree plus two additional years of relevant experience may be accepted in place of the master’s degree.
- At least 2 years of relevant experience with a master’s degree, or 4 years with a bachelor’s degree, in partnerships, development cooperation, international relations, research, or programme analysis, ideally in humanitarian, development, or peace contexts.
- Direct experience in partnerships, inter-agency collaboration, or stakeholder engagement is required.
- Experience with analytical work such as partner mapping, business intelligence, demand analysis, briefing notes, concept notes, or knowledge products.
- Strong writing, analysis, and communication abilities, with the capacity to turn strategic direction into practical outputs.
- Working knowledge of standard office applications and digital collaboration platforms.
- Openness to digital transformation and the use of emerging technologies.
- Experience with the UN system, UNDP, UNV, or other international organizations is an advantage.
- Background in volunteer management, promotion of volunteerism, or work with civil society organizations is a plus.
- Experience supporting partnership development is considered a strong asset.
- Fluency in English and the local language of the duty station is required.
