Role Overview
The Manager, Communications will serve a 16-month contract at 35 hours per week, working onsite in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, with occasional travel across Canada. This role is pivotal in advising on corporate communications best practices, enhancing MS Canada's public image, managing media relations, and collaborating internally to deliver effective messaging that supports communications and public relations goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Advise on and implement corporate communications strategies that bolster organizational reputation and public perception.
- Lead media relations activities including responding to inquiries, conducting outreach, and planning logistics.
- Collaborate with various teams to craft and deliver clear and impactful messaging aligned with MS Canada's mission.
- Provide leadership through direct people management or project oversight, including guidance and feedback.
Candidate Profile and Requirements
- Substantial experience managing communications, public relations, and media relations initiatives that uphold brand identity and image.
- Proven skills handling media interactions and logistical coordination.
- Excellent writing, editing, and project management abilities with a strong capacity to prioritize competing tasks.
- Effective problem-solving and critical thinking skills, with diplomatic handling of challenges.
- Collaborative approach to building trusting relationships with colleagues, external partners, and community members.
- Ability to provide leadership and direction through team or project management.
- Willingness to occasionally work weekends and evenings as required.
- Ability to travel occasionally throughout Canada.
