Overview
FMS Group is seeking a seasoned HSEQ Manager to lead Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality across its East Coast operations based in Mackay and the Coalfields region. This full-time, onsite role combines leadership responsibilities with hands-on HSEQ engagement, serving as a critical function to enhance business performance and workplace safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership, mentorship, and development to the East Coast HSEQ team.
- Collaborate closely with operational leaders to promote safety culture and drive operational excellence.
- Coach supervisors and management on risk management and field leadership practices.
- Lead continual improvement initiatives and advise senior leadership on HSEQ matters.
- Maintain and enhance integrated HSEQ management systems ensuring compliance with legislation, client requirements, and standards such as ISO 45001, ISO 9001, and ISO 14001.
- Plan and execute internal audits, support external certifications and client audits.
- Manage workers compensation claims effectively and lead incident and ICAM investigations including corrective action management.
- Review and improve HSEQ procedures, risk assessments, management plans, and operational documentation.
- Analyze HSEQ performance data, monitor trends, and prepare management reports.
- Support operational teams with practical compliance solutions across multiple sites.
Candidate Profile
- Holds qualifications in Workplace Health & Safety or a relevant discipline.
- Proven experience in senior HSEQ leadership roles within mining, heavy industry, construction, or maintenance sectors.
- Strong expertise in WHS legislation and ISO management systems.
- Proficient in managing audits, incident investigations, and integrated management systems.
- Excellent communication, coaching, and stakeholder engagement abilities.
- Demonstrates a practical, solution-driven mindset coupled with the ability to influence through trust and visible leadership.
