About the Internship
This internship offers a compassionate individual the chance to aid in emotional wellbeing programs tailored for cancer patients and their caregivers. It provides practical experience in psycho-oncology, patient interactions, rapport development, empathetic communication, and caregiver assistance. Interns will learn clinical skills such as patient engagement, documentation, collaborative interdisciplinary work, and understanding emotional challenges faced during cancer treatment through supervised practice.
Responsibilities
- Engage with cancer patients and their caregivers to assess emotional, psychological, and support needs through empathetic communication.
- Support psychological screenings under supervision to identify distress indicators like anxiety, grief, and coping challenges.
- Conduct regular follow-ups and provide basic coping guidance to patients and families.
- Maintain confidential, accurate, and ethical patient progress documentation.
- Develop mental health educational resources and awareness content related to psycho-oncology.
- Participate in case discussions, supervision sessions, and teamwork to enhance patient support methods.

Requirements
- Currently enrolled in or completed training in psychology, clinical psychology, counseling, or related fields.
- Genuine interest in psycho-oncology, healthcare, mental health care, and patient support.
- Basic understanding of psychological concerns and mental health principles.
- Strong communication abilities for building supportive relationships with patients.
- Commitment to confidentiality and responsible handling of sensitive information.
- Willingness to learn through feedback, supervision, and on-the-job exposure.
- Capability to keep organized notes and documentation.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing patient requirements and workload.
- Proficiency in English and Hindi is preferred; fluency in Marathi or Bengali is mandatory to communicate effectively with patients and caregivers.
- Comfort in conducting conversations in at least one regional language: Marathi or Bengali.
- Prior clinical or mental health-related experience is advantageous but not required.
- Comfort working with sensitive topics involving cancer patients and caregivers.
