Staff Midwife

Overview

This position is for a Staff Midwife at a major teaching hospital, involving active collaboration within a multidisciplinary team to deliver a safe, efficient, high-quality maternity care service to women, newborns, and their families.

Key Qualifications and Knowledge

• Must be a Registered Midwife (RM) registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
• Familiarity with healthcare areas including Maternity Strategy, HIQA Standards, Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative (BFHI), Child Protection, applicable health and safety laws, national policies, and health promotion for mothers and families.
• Awareness of clinical governance and risk management practices.

Professional Competencies

• Comprehensive understanding of maternity care models.
• Capacity to interpret and apply research findings.
• Experience with clinical audits.
• Knowledge related to NMBI regulatory roles and publications.
• Background in midwifery and nursing educational programs.
