Role Overview

CFS is looking for an experienced Human Resources Consultant to assist a well-established nonprofit organization located in Washington, DC. This temporary, project-centered engagement allows for remote work for candidates residing in the DMV area (District of Columbia, Maryland, Virginia). The consultant will have a vital role in updating HR policies, enhancing compliance, facilitating recruitment, managing workplace relations, and streamlining HR workflows during a critical organizational project.

Key Responsibilities

• Review, revise, and improve the organization's Employee Handbook.
• Oversee administration of employee leave and related HR processes.
• Assist with recruitment and hiring activities.
• Create and document Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for HR functions.
• Ensure adherence to federal, state, and internal HR compliance standards.
• Offer counsel regarding employee relations issues.
• Compile HR reports and provide support on special projects.
• Contribute to additional HR-related projects and initiatives as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a comparable field.
• At least 10 years of advancing experience in Human Resources roles.
• Comprehensive knowledge of HR compliance, employee relations, recruitment processes, and HR operations.
• Strong organizational and project management capabilities.
• Exceptional attention to detail and ability to juggle multiple priorities efficiently.
• Ability to work independently in a remote working setting.
• Excellent communication skills across written, verbal, and interpersonal domains.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in both domestic and international Human Resources environments.
• Possession of HR certifications such as SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, SPHR, or equivalents.
• Proven experience in developing HR policies, employee handbooks, and SOPs.
• Previous involvement supporting nonprofit organizations.

Compensation and Benefits

• Competitive hourly wage ranging from $53 to $55, commensurate with experience.
