Role Overview
CFS is looking for an experienced Human Resources Consultant to assist a well-established nonprofit organization located in Washington, DC. This temporary, project-centered engagement allows for remote work for candidates residing in the DMV area (District of Columbia, Maryland, Virginia). The consultant will have a vital role in updating HR policies, enhancing compliance, facilitating recruitment, managing workplace relations, and streamlining HR workflows during a critical organizational project.
Key Responsibilities
- Review, revise, and improve the organization's Employee Handbook.
- Oversee administration of employee leave and related HR processes.
- Assist with recruitment and hiring activities.
- Create and document Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for HR functions.
- Ensure adherence to federal, state, and internal HR compliance standards.
- Offer counsel regarding employee relations issues.
- Compile HR reports and provide support on special projects.
- Contribute to additional HR-related projects and initiatives as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a comparable field.
- At least 10 years of advancing experience in Human Resources roles.
- Comprehensive knowledge of HR compliance, employee relations, recruitment processes, and HR operations.
- Strong organizational and project management capabilities.
- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to juggle multiple priorities efficiently.
- Ability to work independently in a remote working setting.
- Excellent communication skills across written, verbal, and interpersonal domains.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in both domestic and international Human Resources environments.
- Possession of HR certifications such as SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, SPHR, or equivalents.
- Proven experience in developing HR policies, employee handbooks, and SOPs.
- Previous involvement supporting nonprofit organizations.
