Role Overview
CFS is currently searching for an experienced HR Consultant to assist a prominent nonprofit organization in Washington, DC. This project-based, temporary position allows remote work for candidates located within the DMV region (District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia). The consultant will focus on enhancing HR policies, ensuring compliance, aiding recruitment efforts, managing employee relations, and refining HR operational processes during a significant organizational initiative.
Key Duties
- Revise, update, and improve the Employee Handbook.
- Oversee administration of employee leave and related HR workflows.
- Assist recruitment and hiring processes.
- Create and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Ensure adherence to federal, state, and organizational HR standards.
- Offer guidance on employee relations issues.
- Prepare HR reports and support special projects.
- Contribute to additional HR-related initiatives as required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
- At least 10 years of advancing experience in Human Resources.
- Comprehensive expertise in HR compliance, employee relations, recruitment activities, and HR operations.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
- Detail-oriented mindset and capability to manage projects independently in a remote work setting.
- Excellent communication skills across written, verbal, and interpersonal contexts.
Preferred Experience and Certifications
- Experience with both domestic and international HR practices.
- Certifications such as SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, SPHR, or equivalent.
- Proven background in creating HR policies, employee handbooks, and SOPs.
- Familiarity with nonprofit organizational environments is advantageous.
