About the Role
Join Amrize as a Quality Control Technologist/Technician and contribute to the advancement of North American infrastructure. This position involves continuous supervision and detailed documentation during the precast concrete production process to assure compliance with CSA A23.4, CPCI/PCI standards, job specifications, plant criteria, and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Verify that all materials and craftsmanship conform to relevant specifications and design drawings.
- Maintain comprehensive shop drawings for each production order and collaborate with the QA/QC Manager to review job-specific data and relay this information to plant staff.
- Prepare tailored inspection documentation for each job, accurately record data, and inspect all incoming materials such as cement, aggregates, admixtures, reinforcing components, and others throughout their integration into products.
- Conduct tests on both fresh and hardened concrete (e.g., air content, slump tests, cylinder breaks) and meticulously log all required information consistent with specifications.
- Assess mix design effectiveness and consult with the QA/QC Manager to determine necessary modifications.
- Monitor, document, and distribute reports related to plant procedures as established in the internal Quality program.
- Carry out pre-pour checks and post-pour assessments on all products, providing official quality approvals.
- Measure large precast elements for camber and sweep as needed.
- Identify and document any non-conformities; prepare Non-Conformance Reports for the QA/QC Manager.
- Commit to promoting health, safety, and environmental standards, and foster a culture of safety in all working environments.
Candidate Profile
Education: Degree or diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction Technology, or equivalent practical experience.
Experience: Basic knowledge of surveying is preferred.
Certifications: PCI Level 1 or 2, CCIL, or ACI certifications are desirable.
Skills and Requirements:
- Proficient in computer use and mathematical calculations.
- Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office software.
- Proven problem-solving, decision-making, and multitasking capabilities.
- Strict adherence to all safety measures and proper usage of company-approved personal protective equipment, including respirators. Candidates needing respirators must have a clean-shaven face for effective fit testing.
