About the Role

We are seeking a seasoned Planning Specialist to join a prominent organisation in the energy sector, contributing to substantial capital and construction projects. This role is pivotal in advancing project delivery by implementing sophisticated planning, scheduling, forecasting, and performance analysis techniques. The successful candidate will guide complex construction projects and collaborate closely with project teams and senior stakeholders to enhance schedule reliability and delivery outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and upkeep integrated project schedules to ensure alignment across activities.
  • Maintain schedule integrity by validating logic and critical path accuracy.
  • Conduct comprehensive schedule performance assessments, including forecasting and trend evaluations.
  • Analyze critical paths, delays, and the impacts of schedule changes.
  • Assist in recovery planning, reforecasting, and schedule rebaselining as necessary.
  • Provide planning insights for governance and executive-level reporting.
  • Engage collaboratively with project controls, risk management, commercial, and delivery teams.
  • Lead initiatives to enhance planning standards, tools, and methodologies continuously.
  • Mentor team members to build planning expertise within project groups.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • A tertiary degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or a closely related discipline.
  • Proven proficiency with planning software such as Primavera P6 and/or MS Project.
  • Expertise in critical path method (CPM) analysis, schedule risk evaluation, and project controls.
  • Hands-on experience supporting planning and scheduling in complex construction, infrastructure, energy, or large-scale capital projects.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to influence stakeholders and deliver clear, evidence-backed recommendations.
  • Exceptional analytical capabilities combined with effective communication skills.

Additional Information

This position is a full-time casual contract for 6 months, operating on a hybrid basis with three days onsite in Sydney NSW and two days remote work per week.
