Role Overview
We are looking for a Marketplace Strategy Manager to lead and advance marketplace strategic initiatives aimed at accelerating e-commerce growth, enhancing competitive positioning, and maximizing commercial outcomes across various online platforms. This role entails assessing marketplace possibilities, crafting growth-focused strategies, dissecting market trends, refining product portfolios, and spearheading programs that boost sales, profitability, and engage customers effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with teams including e-commerce, product management, digital marketing, sales, finance, supply chain, customer success, analytics, and executive leadership to align marketplace strategies with overall business goals.
- Conduct thorough market and competitor research to identify new expansion opportunities.
- Optimize pricing structures and promotional campaigns across marketplace channels.
- Monitor marketplace KPIs closely and manage seller performance for optimal outcomes.
- Create and manage executive dashboards supporting marketplace decision-making.
- Facilitate marketplace launches and implement automation as well as AI-driven insights to enhance operations.
- Drive continuous improvements focusing on marketplace operations, customer experience, and sustainable business growth.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Business Analytics, E-commerce, Economics, Supply Chain Management, Information Systems, Operations Management, or related fields; advanced degrees like a Master’s or MBA preferred.
- Proven experience in marketplace or e-commerce strategy, digital commerce, commercial strategy, growth marketing, or consulting.
- Strong knowledge of marketplace ecosystems, product portfolio and pricing strategies, customer acquisition, revenue optimization, inventory control, marketplace governance, and omnichannel retail approaches.
- Hands-on experience with marketplaces such as Amazon, Shopee, Lazada, TikTok Shop, Walmart Marketplace, eBay, Shopify Marketplace, or Zalando.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, SQL, and analytics/reporting platforms like Power BI, Tableau, Looker, Google Analytics 4, or Microsoft Fabric.
- Experience with CRM, ERP, and e-commerce systems including Salesforce, SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics 365, NetSuite, Shopify, or similar.
- Understanding of marketplace advertising, SEO for product listings, AI analytics, automation tech, APIs, cloud services (AWS, Azure, GCP), and predictive analytics is highly desirable.
- Excellent analytical, strategic thinking, problem-solving, communication, presentation, leadership, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Experience supporting international marketplace growth, digital transformation, AI integration, category management, and enterprise e-commerce modernization beneficial.
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies, project management, data governance, customer journey mapping, demand forecasting, financial analysis, and compliance is advantageous.
- Professional certifications such as Google Analytics, Amazon Ads, Shopify, Microsoft Power BI Data Analyst, or Google Data Analytics are a plus.
